2018
Ocean School is a groundbreaking educational experience with the mission to provide learners with tools and knowledge to understand our influence on the ocean and its influence on us. First of its kind, the web-based interactive platform uses 360 videos, interactive games, and mixed reality to engage and educate. Build with Inquiry-Based Learning as its core approach, the platform focuses on student engagement allowing them to build knowledge through exploration, experience and discussion.

the Classroom
of the Future
With Ocean School, every classroom becomes an expedition with students using multiple devices to collaborate together.
Adventures from Around the World
Each location has a story told by a local youth host on themes ranging from species migration, the effects of human action on different species, environmental factors affecting the ocean, and so much more.
Learning by Modules
Each module has a focus question students need to answer. To do so, they must navigate all the activities whilst gathering knowledge and questioning the world they live in.
1 – Inquiry-Based Learning
Students are at the center of the experience. They can explore in an open manner, choosing topics and content that interest them.
2 – Gamification
Students unlock contents as they explore providing the added incentive of gamification. Unlocked contents are interactive and require a deeper understanding of the underlying themes.
3 – A 3D World
The creation of 3D cube transports students to specific locations with real geographical and topographical features. This lifelike element also acts as the experience's navigation sending the students deeper into the platform.

Dive into

Agency is at the core of the platform. Students create their own crew, personalizing it with a flag, before heading off to explore the hidden corners of the ocean.
The Interactives
Interactive web-based games help students understand complex issues.
Bay Watch
A multiplayer game allows a main player to influence in real-time an underwater VR environment by adding or removing nutrients and oyster platforms in the cube view.
Cod
Using a 3D model, students can measure, weight, and dissect a cod. The collected data helps students identify when to fish the species while respecting its reproduction cycle.
A Window into the Experience
Each environment of the long format homepage tells the story of our mission while immersing the user using eye-catching animations and beautiful imagery. Built not only as the entrypoint to the platform, but also as the hook for schools, partners, parents, and all interested in finding out more about this groundbreaking project.
